- Born in Dallas Texas, Darius moved to Norman Oklahoma in 1987 to attend the University of Oklahoma. It was during this time in college that Darius confirmed it was the world of couture was one of his passions and that he wanted to become a fashion designer specializing in unique evening gowns, special occasion dresses, and informal bridal wedding dresses.
After some moderate local success in Oklahoma the company Darius Cordell Designs decided they were ready to take their evening wear designs to the national level. It was then, that the marriage of determination, compassion, design, & fashion sense were perfectly melded into Darius producing his own designer collection of high end formal evening wear gowns.
He introduced his first collection at the Atlanta Apparel Market in October of 1996. This was the beginning of the label "Darius Cordell Couture" taking its rightful place as a contender in the pageant gown arena.
